Dubai Itinerary 2026

The Perfect Day-by-Day Guide

Dubai rewards travellers who plan. The city spans 4,114 km² — without a logical day-by-day structure, you'll spend half your trip in taxis crossing the city. This guide gives you a proven framework whether you're spending 3 days or 10.

How many days do you need?

3 days

Enough for the essentials: Old Dubai, Burj Khalifa, and one evening in the Marina. You'll miss the desert and the beach.

4–5 days

The sweet spot for most visitors. Covers Old Dubai, modern attractions, beach, desert safari, and a local neighbourhood.

6–7 days

A comprehensive experience. Add the Palm, cultural activities (SMCCU mosque tour, Sheikh Mohammed centre), day trip options.

8–10 days

For those who want to go deep: Abu Dhabi day trip, Al Ain, Hatta mountain town, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and unhurried exploration.

Best time to visit

October to April is peak season: temperatures of 20–28°C, ideal for beaches, desert, and outdoor activities. Prices are highest December to January. Book hotels and major attractions weeks ahead during this period.

May to September is extreme heat (38–48°C) but hotels are 40–60% cheaper. Focus on indoor attractions: Dubai Frame, IMG Worlds, Ski Dubai, and the malls. All outdoor activities should be done before 10am or after 7pm.

A 5-day Dubai itinerary

The geographic logic here is deliberate: each day stays in one part of the city to minimise wasted travel time.

Day 1 — Old Dubai & Cultural Immersion

Start in Al Fahidi Historic District before 9am when the lanes are cool and empty. The Dubai Museum (AED 3) is the city's best value attraction. Cross the Creek by Abra for AED 1 — the most iconic 5-minute journey in the UAE. Spend the afternoon in the Gold Souk and Spice Souk; negotiate hard, start 40% below asking. End the evening with a walk along Al Seef waterfront or a Dhow dinner cruise (AED 150–350 including food).

Day 2 — Modern Dubai: Downtown & Burj Khalifa

Book your Burj Khalifa At the Top tickets 3–4 weeks in advance (AED 169–595 depending on level; Level 124/125 offers the best value). Visit at sunset. The Dubai Fountain show runs every 30 minutes from 6pm and is free from the boardwalk. Dubai Mall has a spectacular indoor waterfall near the aquarium — free to admire. Dining in this area is expensive; the food court is good value at AED 30–60/meal.

Day 3 — Beach & Marina Life

Skip the overpriced beach clubs and head to Kite Beach on Jumeirah — free entry, food trucks, and mainly locals. In the afternoon, walk The Walk at JBR or take the tram to Dubai Marina for a sunset boat cruise (from AED 100/person). Dubai Marina has excellent mid-range restaurants along the waterfront. Skydive Dubai is here if you want the ultimate Dubai experience (AED 2,400 tandem).

Day 4 — Desert Safari

Book a reputable desert operator for an afternoon/evening safari (AED 200–350 including BBQ dinner). Most depart around 3pm from Dubai to avoid the peak heat. Activities typically include dune bashing, sandboarding, camel riding, and a campfire dinner under the stars. For a true luxury version, consider overnight glamping at Sonara Camp (AED 700+/person). Avoid morning desert trips in May–September — the heat is dangerous.

Day 5 — Hidden Dubai: Local Neighbourhoods

Al Quoz and Alserkal Avenue are Dubai's art and coffee district — not tourist-friendly to navigate, but worth a taxi. Boxpark in Al Wasl is a great open-air evening dining spot with good value food (AED 30–60/meal). Kite Beach works for a second morning. The View at The Palm (AED 120) is excellent for skyline photography without the Burj Khalifa crowds.
